We’re excited to continue our Summer Intern Spotlight series by introducing another member of our internship team. Each intern brings unique experiences, interests, and goals that strengthen our work and help us continue advancing accessibility and inclusion. In this post, you’ll meet one of our summer interns as they share more about their background, academic journey, and what inspired them to join Accessible Telehealth this summer.

Meet Ilexia Navarro!

Hello! My name is Ilexia Navarro, and I am excited to join Accessible Telehealth as an intern this summer. I am currently a Law and Justice Studies major at Rowan University and I expect to graduate in 2027. On campus, I am involved in Campus Ministry and Alpha Phi Omega, a community service fraternity. Both organizations have given me the opportunity to serve others, create lasting friendships, and stay involved on campus.   While I’m still deciding on my exact career path, I’m especially interested in disability rights, as well as mediation and conflict resolution in various fields of law. No matter what path I choose, I hope to have a career where I can represent others, solve problems, and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

I chose this internship because accessibility is something I care deeply about. As someone who is blind, I’ve experienced many accessibility challenges in everyday life, and those experiences have shown me how important it is to create technology and services that everyone can use. That’s particularly true in healthcare. Accessible Telehealth has the potential to remove barriers and make healthcare easier to access for so many people, and I’m excited to be part of an organization working toward that goal.

During my internship, I’m looking forward to learning more about accessibility, seeing how solutions are developed, strengthening my communication skills, and gaining experience working with people throughout the community.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, spending time at the Jersey Shore during the summer, learning to play guitar, listening to music, and watching baseball. Overall, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of Accessible Telehealth this summer, and I’m looking forward to learning, contributing, and growing throughout the experience.
