  • Mismanagement of medication is one of the leading causes of death in the United States

Our Story:

Accessible Pharmacy Services for Refugees is the leading company for helping newcomers manage and access their medication and diabetes. Our original focus of supporting the blind and low vision community included a universal design and patient-centered support. Because of this, other populations began to gravitate towards us including the DeafBlind community, individuals living with limited mobility, cognitive impairments and intellectual disabilities. Ultimately, newcomers including immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers, as well as resettlement organizations, sought out our services.

When assisting newcomers, one area presented a large collection of challenges: supporting individuals who do not speak English with medication education and support, medication labeling in the individuals primary language and also helping new arrivals who are unable to read.

Through our solutions we have provided with other populations, we are able to adapt and also assist refugees with limited or no English language capability. This includes providing the medication information in an audio format that can be read out loud to a patient. Fortunately, we are able to provide:

  • Patient support
      • 200 languages
  • Text labels
      • 200 languages
  • Audio labels
      • 50 languages
  • Diabetes support
      • Approximately 20% of all refugees are living with diabetes. We provide glucometers, CGM devices, insulin, syringes, diabetes specific medications, and education on how to live with diabetes.
  • Educational tools
      • We aggregate and provide basic health information in multiple languages.
